3 CONFERENCE DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT
4

> Since 2009, imagina's Media & Entertainment (M&E) conferences have focused on transferring M&E's skills and technologies to other industries. This approach has achieved great success with presenters and their audience alike. For its 2011 edition, Imagina takes this concept even further and creates a day of conferences called CG PROSPECTIVES.

These conferences will showcase new and emerging technologies and applications originating from such diverse fields as video games, medicine and the Internet.

10h30 – 11h30
3D INTERFACES FOR MOBILE DEVICES
The 3D Internet is the next big paradigm change. The change will be first introduced in mobile phones, as the focus of software development is changing from desktops to mobile phones and handheld computers. Intel and Nokia Joint Innovation Center at University of Oulu has started a project called Chiru to explore the mobile 3D Internet in practice. Jani Pirkola from the University of Oulu in Finland will present the revolution of user Interface from 2D to 3D, while Mikko Terho from Nokia, will discuss 3D and Mobile User Interface.

11h30 – 12h30
REAL-TIME 3D RENDERING AT ITS BEST

Quality real-time CGI and interactivity demand top photorealistic real-time rendering. Dr. Oliver Abert from NUMENUS will demonstrate its powerful rendering solution and will demonstrate what it can bring to your own images and products.
Olivier Blondel from NVIDIA will then share his company's most recent technological advances and their applications.

12h30 – 13h30 Break for lunch

13h30 – 14h15
THE INCREDIBLE POTENTIAL OF THE KINECT MOTION SENSOR, EXEMPLIFIED BY A LEADING-EDGE APPLICATION IN THE MEDICAL FIELD
The launch of Microsoft Kinect has started a veritable tidal wave by giving everyone access to controlling devices and data through motion and voice. Benoit Guerville, Journalist and Conference Moderator, will present an overview of non-game applications already making use of this technology, and how it will impact the way we interact with computers and 3D data. Then, Drs Lars Christian Ebert and Steffen Ross from Virtopsy, will give an overview of the techniques including Kinect that are currently used for virtual autopsies and crime scene reconstruction as well as an outlook on future developments.

14h15 – 15h00
3D PRINTING: MANUFACTURING THE WORLD IN RADICAL NEW WAYS
Benoit Guerville, Journalist and Moderator, will present an overview of how 3D printing technologies are about to radically transform the manufacturing process of many objects, from the simplicity of everyday life items to architectural buildings to the complexity of human organs. It's a revolution akin to the invention of the Gutenberg printing press. Tim Heller from Stratasys, one of the leading brand in this industry, will focus on applications and markets for the recent 3D Printing segment of Additive Fabrication. 3D printing is often discussed relative to concept models but shown applications will demonstrate that the uses and markets have become much broader. Additive Manufacturing (as opposed to Rapid Prototyping) is rapidly becoming linked to the term 3D Printing and several examples will be shown.
